Our Mission
WOW helps women leaving prison and overcoming addiction to find a fresh start with Christ-centered support in transitional homes.
Our Story
Opening in 2004, WOW became an approved transitional housing provider for the Tennessee Department of Corrections (TDOC) in 2020, providing transitional housing, recovery support, mental health counseling, and job support for women re-entering society from Tennessee jails or prisons.
Community Support
Our community is built on empathy, understanding, and solidarity. We believe in the potential of every woman we serve and strive to create a network of support that fosters growth, healing, and lasting change.
The services we provide women.
Mental Health Counseling
Most of our women have experienced deep childhood trauma and began using drugs or alcohol to numb the pain. WOW offers individual and group counseling so women can heal from trauma and learn healthy coping skills.
Recovery
More than 25% of incarcerated women are held for drug crimes. 32% are held for property offenses, - often linked to drug abuse. (Crime Report, 2020) WOW offers recovery services including 12-steps and faith-based addiction programming.
Transitional Living
WOW operates 16 beds in three different houses – growing from 5 beds in 2021. Women may stay for up to a year. WOW supplies clothing, hygiene products, food, and transportation.
Job Placement
100% of women are employed 30+ hours per week. Getting work history and experience while living in a safe, supportive place increases the chances of the women becoming independent at graduation.
Spiritual Growth
Women are encouraged to work on their spiritual growth while at WOW, with bible study and church available.
